It was reported earlier this morning that Max Kellerman would be removed from First Take and given an « enhanced role » on ESPN Radio.
According to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, that expanded role will be working with in the morning Keyshawn Johnson include. Johnson, a former star NFL wide receiver, was hooked up with ESPN basketball analyst Jay Williams on her national radio program while her former co-host Zubin Mehenti was absent due to health complications.
« Originally, ESPN wanted Pairing Radio Kellerman with Keyshawn Johnson on its morning show when it turned its entire line-up upside down last spring, ”wrote Marchand. « But Kellerman ended up doing a two-hour afternoon radio show that was heard nationwide while Johnson worked with Jay Williams and Zubin Mehenti. » Marchand added that he was not sure if Williams would be the third host alongside Johnson and Kellerman will stay if changes are implemented.

Kellerman has hosted First Take with Stephen A. Smith since taking over for Skip Bayless five years ago. ESPN is going in a different direction, however.
According to reports, the company will take Kellerman off the debate-based show and allow Smith to compete against a rotating group of experts and guests.
