CM – Russia expelled 20 Czech diplomatic staff for « unprecedented decision »

The Russian authorities have ordered 20 Czech diplomats to leave the country within one day in response to the expulsion of 18 Russian diplomats by the Czech government.

Russia has expelled 20 employees from the Czech embassy in Moscow in retaliation for the earlier expulsion of 18 Russian diplomats from the Czech Republic, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow.

According to the Czech side, these are those affected by 16 diplomats and four embassy employees without diplomatic status.

The Czech Republic expelled 18 Russian diplomats on Saturday for accusing the Russian government of having been involved in explosions in an ammunition depot in 2014.

The Russians were killed identified as members of the SWR and GRU secret services in their country, said Czech Interior Minister Jan Hamacek.

On Sunday evening, according to the TASS news agency, the Czech ambassador was called to a 20-minute meeting at the Foreign Ministry.
