The world’s number 2 Belarusian, Aryna Sabalenka, shocked the women’s tournament in Adelaide by losing in straight sets to Kaja Juvan.
As a semi-finalist at the US Open and Wimbledon last year, Sabalenka is aiming for a first grand -Slam title and the top placement of the Australian Ash Barty.
But the 23-year-old fought at the WTA 500 tournament against the Slovenian Juvan, who is in 100th place, for her best form.
After one tight first set Sabalenka lost her way and rushed to a 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 defeat.
