NEW DELHI: The first global collaboration between the Swedish fashion retailer H&M and the local designer Sabyasachi will hit stores in India on August 12th. The retailer announced on Monday that the collection of long, flowing dresses, tunics, blouses, shirts, wide trousers and saris are sold in 10 selected shops in the country as well as on H&M’s own website and the Myntra marketplace.

The collaboration was first announced last year but stalled when Covid cases emerged in the country that called for a full lockdown in the weeks that followed.

The collection will be available from August 12th at 11am in selected H&M stores in India by appointment only to buyers in the cities of Delhi, Ahmedabad, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Mohali, Chennai, Hyderabad, Noida and Lucknow. It will also be available on HM.com and Myntra.

The collection will also be available worldwide on hm.com and in select H&M flagship stores around the world, the retailer, who operates over 50 stores in the country, said in a statement.

The Sabyasachi x H&M collection includes accessories, jewelry, shoes and sunglasses for women and men. It will also feature a one-of-a-kind collaboration saree that has been developed exclusively for customers in India, he added.

“I’m excited to announce the new date to work with H&M as it gives us the opportunity to bring the Sabyasachi aesthetic to a wider audience in India and around the world. Due to the complexity of the Covid-19 situation, we had to put the launch on hold, but I’m looking forward to presenting this ‘ready-to-wear’ collection that brings relaxed sophistication into everyday life in a subtle yet glamorous everyday life Style. « Said Sabyasachi.

Maria Gemzell, Head of New Development, H&M, said that buyers appreciate the use of handicrafts and textiles from their own cultivation more than ever.

« We look forward to making this breathtaking collection available to as many people around the world as possible, » said Gemzell.
