South Korean officials are cautiously hoping that COVID-19 transmissions will slow after weeks of battling the country’s worst wave of infections.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency reported 1,372 on Tuesday Cases the country’s lowest daily increase in about two weeks.

Officials have enforced the toughest social distancing restrictions except for a lockdown in the capital, Seoul and other major population centers, including banning private social gatherings of three or more people after 6 p.m. .

A senior health ministry official urged citizens to remain vigilant ahead of next month’s Chuseok holidays, when millions typically travel across the country to meet relatives.
