The following contains a fact, casting spoiler, and opening credits scene from the new movie Spider-Man: No Way Home. Proceed at your own risk.

Spider-Man: No Way Home, now in theaters, sheds some light on a strange line of dialogue from the December 15th TV episode Hawkeye – but that’s by no means the only one Link the movie event to Marvel TV shows.

In the penultimate episode of Disney’s newest MCU series, Natasha Romanoff’s vengeful sister Yelena Belova (played by Black Widows Florence Pugh) surprises Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) by being in the charred heroine shows up in training apartment. Yelena doesn’t come with malice, however, but with a fresh pot of macaroni and cheese.

Yelena shares the unique fork in Kate’s pathetic collection of cutlery and invites her youngest opponent from the rooftop fight to join the meal. When Kate gets down to business and asks Yelena what she’s up to, the Russian assassin realizes that this “business trip” is actually her first time in New York. “I want to see some things,” says Yelena. For example, « I want to see the Empire State Building, the new and improved Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center … ».

But wait, what’s « new and improved » about the Statue of Liberty? (At least I was wondering what that was about. And maybe you did.) Well, in the back half of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the Statue of Liberty is revealed with its own giant shield – Captain America style.

However, the landmark is still under construction (and clearly not open to tourists) during the Spider-Man: No Way Home events, suggesting Hawkeye may have been some time after The latest MCU movie takes place when Yelena fires a visit.

However, Lady Liberty isn’t the only connective tissue between the TV’s MCU and Spider-Man: No Way Home. What follows is the aforementioned cast spoiler.

No Way Home picks up exactly where the previous Spider-Man movie left off and finds Peter Parker (Tom Holland) with J. Jonah Jameson’s reveal the true, youthful identity of the web slinger has to fight. Both Peter’s friends and May are drawn into the hero-or-killer madness until they seek legal counsel. And that attorney comes in the form of none other than Matt Murdock from Charlie Cox aka Daredevil (although Peter et al. Don’t know the attorney’s other life).

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige recently got a Charlie Cox encore teased when Matt even though he didn’t say where or what. And of course, Daredevil’s own big bad guy, Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin (played again by Vincent D’Onofrio), appeared in Hawkeye Episode 5.

What finally follows is the reveal of the second of the two credits scenes of No Way Home. You have been warned again.

Since much of No Way Home revolves around the introduction of the Multiverse and the role of Doctor Stephen Strange in it, the credits scene is less of a « scene » and more a teaser trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (currently released in May 2022). This sweeping, exhilarating trailer features (among many other things) Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) looking for Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), who is quick to acknowledge what she’s done at Westview – but her fellow Avenger has much bigger fish to fry . The same teaser trailer builds on the reveal of Doctor Strange Supreme, the wizard’s creepy doppelganger featured in the fourth episode of Disney’s animated What If …? Anthology series « What if … Doctor Strange lost his heart instead of his hands? »
