Tatus Quo bassist Alan Lancaster has died at the age of 72 following a battle with multiple sclerosis (MS).
Bennett wrote: “[I] am heartbroken to announce the death of Alan Lancaster, a British Music king, guitar god and founding member of the legendary band Status Quo.
« Despite MS and mobility problems, Alan took part in extremely successful reunion tours … He played bravely in front of thousands of enthusiastic fans … and loved to be back at the Band and his loyal Quo army. «
He leaves his wife Dayle, whom he met in 1973 on a tour with Status Quo in Australia, their children Alan, Toni and David and five grandchildren.
His His last appearance as a full-time member of Status Quo was in July 1985 at Wembley Stadium for the opening of Live Aid.
In March 2013 he worked with his old bandmates for a series of « Frantic Four » concerts in Great Britain.
