Literally the only message that matters to me on this dreary Thursday afternoon is three cows escaped from a trailer and had an overnight adventure in a suburb of Melbourne.
An 80-year-old man drove his Ford Falcon with the cows safely in a trailer in tow on Wednesday evening at around 6:40 p.m. However, after trying to pass a roundabout, the trailer rolled and released the three cows into the streets of Ferntree Gully.
From there, the three heifers set out on their own goddamn adventure, roaming the streets for hours before one was stuck in a local backyard while the other two were found a short time later in a Coles parking lot.
Unfortunately, Victoria Police said the cows were extremely distressed and the locals were charged who tried to to catch them. « This was a wonderful display of community spirit, with so many locals coming to help all three heifers safely recover, » Acting Senior Sergeant Melanie Woods of Knox Police Department said in a statement. « Fortunately no one was hurt when we were looking for the girls because they were quite desperate and sometimes attacked some people trying to help them recover.
» I really want to thank everyone involved for helping us Heifers would not have brought home safely without the help of those who came out and stayed on the course overnight. ”
Search and rescue operations included the CFA, Fire Rescue Victoria, the SES, local vets and zookeepers , Farmers and council rangers who all worked to catch the animals. All three cows were eventually captured and sedated before rescue workers loaded them back onto a trailer and transported them back to the farm.
