CM – Storm warning for areas affected by hail

There is more wild weather on the way for Ipswich, Lockyer Valley and Esk this afternoon as the storm cells continue to hit the southeast for the third day in a row.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the areas at around 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday.

However, Toowoomba and Somerset are reportedly the first in the line of fire as the system continues eastward in the afternoon.

A BOM spokesman said the system would likely reach Toowoomba just after 2 p.m. and northwest of Esk around 3 p.m.

It comes after Tuesday night’s storm that reportedly brought hail the size of golf balls to Lockyer Valley.

Residents are advised to obscure or move vehicles away from trees, secure loose items outdoors, stay indoors, and beware of fallen trees and power lines.
