Phivolcs registered four short phreatomagmatic eruptions in the Taal volcano. The phreatomagmatic bursts, which lasted no more than two minutes, produced short jet clouds that rose 200 meters above Main Crater Lake.

Another minor phreatomagmatic burst was observed. It took about two minutes and produced clouds that reached 200 meters high.

Phivolcs recorded a « minor » phreatomagmatic eruption that lasted about two minutes and produced clouds 200 meters high.

Phivolcs issued a notice of elevation the alert status of Taal from alert level 2 (increasing unrest) to alert level 3 (magmatic unrest).

« This means that there is an magmatic intrusion at the main crater that could fuel further eruptions, » said the agency.

It recommended evacuating the volcanic island of Taal and the high-risk barangays of Agoncillo and Laurel in Batangas due to the potential dangers of pyroclastic density currents and volcanic tsunamis.

The communities around the shores of Lake Taal were also advised To take precautionary measures and to watch out for possible disturbances of the seawater in connection with the ongoing unrest.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolc s) said the Taal volcano created a dark phreatomagmatic cloud at its main crater that was up to a kilometer high.
