Saturday night gave fans a first look at the Team USA basketball team. With that, head coach Gregg Popovich unveiled his first starting grid for the Tokyo Olympics.

Popovich and the Team USA men’s basketball coaching team kicked off Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal in the backcourt. Jayson Tatum started as small forward, while Kevin Durant and Bam Adebayo occupied the forecourt.

As NBA reporter Anthony Slater noted, starter five should excel on both offense and defense. The starting line-up is full of elite goalscorers and defenders.

Team USA men’s basketball will compete in several exhibition games before the actual Tokyo Olympics on July 25th France begin. On July 28th it will meet Iran and on July 31st the Czech Republic before the men’s quarter-finals begin on August 3rd.

If Team USA progresses to the men’s gold medal game, which it should, it will be on August 6th August.

As long as the superstars play as they should, America should end up winning gold in men’s basketball.
