CM – The Capital Gazette shooter Jarrod Ramos was mentally ill, according to the lawyer

The man who killed five people in a Maryland newsroom believed the courts were working with the Capital Gazette to destroy his life, a jury was told yesterday.

Jarrod’s attorney Ramos sets up a case that he is not criminally responsible for his crimes because of a mental illness when his trial begins three years after the mass shooting.

Ramos, pleading guilty, wore tactical gear, barricaded the doors, to prevent his victims from escaping and has shown no remorse since the shooting of five employees, said attorney Katy O’Donnell in her opening speech.

O’Donnell said that Ramos’ act was « deliberate, willful and willful, « but that experts testify that he is not criminally responsible for mental illness, autism, and obsession
