Tammy Faye Bakker, a television evangelist and ex-wife of Jim Bakker, died of colon cancer in 2007 at the age of 65. Her death followed a long battle with cancer. After divorcing Jim Bakker and marrying Roe Messner, she was also known as Tammy Faye Messner.
The Bakkers lost their financial empire after Jim Bakker’s indictment in 1988 in eight postal fraud cases, 15 wire transfer fraud cases, and one case of conspiracy, reported ABC News. A jury found him guilty on all 24 counts. He was sentenced to 45 years in prison and fined $ 500,000. He was granted a reduced sentence and was released on probation after serving about 5 years of his prison sentence, reported ABC. Tammy Faye Bakker filed for divorce after his conviction and married Roe Messner. She was not charged. Jim Bakker returned to television after his release from prison and now hosts the Jim Bakker Show.

According to Reuters, Tammy Faye Bakker’s battle with cancer lasted more than 10 years. She was diagnosed with colon cancer and announced in 2004 that it had spread to her lungs, Reuters reported. She decided to stop treatment in 2007 and died about two months later, according to ABC News.
She announced on her website that she would be stopping treatment and said that she weighed only 65 pounds and was ready to see her condition to my faith ”.

Tammy Faye Bakker filed for divorce from Jim Bakker after he was sentenced to 45 years in prison for fraud and conspiracy, according to ABC News.
