CM – The COVID outbreak in Western Australia is increasing as restrictions extend

The case reported on Monday is related to a previously reported case and was in quarantine at diagnosis.

Prime Minister Mark McGowan said they were not contagious while in the community.

« This brings the total number of locally acquired cases in this outbreak to nine, » he said.

« The total number of active confirmed cases in WA is now 20-16 in hotel quarantine and four in self-quarantine. »

Due to the steadily growing cluster, however, the restrictions will be extended until January 4th.

The mask requirement remains in place while nightclubs remain closed, New Year’s music festivals are canceled and seats are only allowed in open venues.
