A woman was walking down a bush lane with her family when she died after falling at least 50 meters from a waterfall in the far north of Queensland.
Emergency services were up on Sunday afternoon with a search and rescue operation in Windin Falls in Wooroonooran National Park on the Tablelands.
Police said initial reports indicated that the 58-year-old Cairns woman fell from the top of the falls shortly before 1 p.m.
The Windin Falls, accessible via a 90-minute hike along the Old Cairns Track, offer views of the World Heritage Site Wet Tropics and a natural infinity pool that slopes down into a valley.
