CM – The leading Ipswich race winner is hoping for Cup Day

Regular Ipswich Premiership winner Tony Gollan knows that Amish Boy will be the one to beat at the $ 176,500 City of Ipswich Eye Liner Stakes on Saturday.

However, former Eye Liner Stakes winning trainer Gollan likes to bring his horses to Ipswich and Saturday is no exception with 10 runners from the nine-race program.

These include his three hopefuls in the Eye Liner Stakes – Snitch, Macewen, and Really Discreet.

Ben Thompson is on Snitch with Georgina Cartwright on Macewen and constant Ipswich track performer Robbie Fradd who leads Really Discreet.

« I’ve won it (the Eye Liner Stakes) a couple of times. It’s a tough race to win, » said Gollan.

Gollan’s previous successes were 2018 with I’m A Rippa and four years earlier Alma’s Fury.

Gollan enjoyed the magical Eye Liner-Ipswich Cup Double in 2014, when Brave Ali won the Ipswich Cup and Tegan Harrison became the first female driver to accomplish the feat.

« It was a great day. It was a really good carnival, similar to the carnival we have now, » said Gollan.

The coach has dominated Ipswich prime ministerial offices for the past few years and is a strong supporter of the turf club.

« It looks like a pretty fast-paced eyeliner that’s often used to this kind of race. »

Gollan expected all three of his 1350m hopes to be competitive in the Eye Liner class.

« I think the favorite (Amish Boy) is very hard to beat in his form, » said Gollan.

Snitch did well in Barrier 1, with Macewen starting from Barrier 10 and Really Discreet starting a track wider.

« The stable is in good shape and these three horses are in good shape, » said Gollan.

Of his other runners, Gollan rated Palladas as one to watch in the Schweppes TL Cooney three-year-old race over 1350 m at 1:58 p.m.

« And we have some nice mares (Nierdorp and Socializing) at Gai Waterhouse (Classic – the last race) so we have good runners for most of the day’s runners.

« I don’t have a runner in the cup this year, but there will be a good contingent of runners and it’s always a tough race day with large fields and competition races all day, which was the same for the whole (winter) carnival. Yes, really.

So you’re winning and Laure Me are early favorites for the $ 180,000 TAB Ipswich Cup (2,150 million).

The Ipswich Cup takes place at 3:17 p.m., before the eagerly awaited Eye Liner Stakes take place at 3:53 p.m.

General admission tickets must be purchased in advance at, as tickets are not available at the box office on Saturday.
