Longtime ESPN broadcaster Kenny Mayne announced this afternoon that he was leaving the company after nearly three decades.

Mayne joined the Worldwide Leader in 1994 and made a name for himself after a few years on ESPN2 SportsCenter anchor. There he became famous for his dead style and unique catchphrase.

Over the years Mayne has hosted his own show Kenny Maynes Wider World of Sports, and produced and starred in an original series called Mayne Street. He also worked on NFL Countdown and ESPN’s coverage of horse racing before returning to SportsCenter in 2017.

In his retirement announcement on Twitter this afternoon, Mayne called himself a « pay cap victim » and paid tribute to those with whom he was at Had worked together over the years.
