2021 marks the 30th anniversary of Australia’s most popular cultural export, The Wiggles, and to do so partying, the entertainers have announced a crazy tour with Skivvy with the OG line-up.
This is not the first time the band has toured and performed a series of over 18 gigs to the delight of an audience, that wants nothing more than to relive the joys of ‘Fruit Salad’ in a crowded and sweaty club. The Wiggles toured for their older audiences four years ago. But this time the shows promise to be even wilder than before thanks to the support slots filled by cult favorites Polish Club and DZ Deathrays.
Yes, it will be a pure tonal pandemonium, a night of left turns, where the best of Australian hard rock meets some of the best children’s songs ever written.
The Wiggles also announced a bit sadder news this morning: Emma Wiggle, the yellow Skivvy trainer for the new line-up, announced that she will retire from the group to spend more time at home and work on other projects.
“Like many people around the world, the pandemic has given me time to think about what’s going on in the Life matters, « said Emma Wiggle in a statement. « For me it means spending more time at home, something I didn’t know I was touring eight months a year, but something I’ve really appreciated over the past 18 months.
» I’m also really looking forward to spending more time and energy completing my PhD, which includes my ongoing passion for sign language, dance, and film editing, and spending more time working with the deaf community. «
Emma is member of the group for eight long years. She will be replaced by Tsehay Hawkins, the young star who was recently announced as a member of Fruit Salad TV, spin-off The Wiggles (much to the annoyance of crybaby Matt Canavan).
