The Church said it has applied to the Queensland Supreme Court to receive its legal entity – PCQ a Letters Patent Entity (PCQ).
The PCQ moderator, Reverend Dr. Philip Strong said the decision to step into the bankruptcy administration was regrettable but necessary to ensure the PCQ can continue to provide vital service to the Queensland community over the long term.
« While our team has worked hard to restructure the operations for over a year, historical contractual arrangements have made this extremely difficult. While the decision to appoint a recipient is difficult, we believe this is the best next step. » So Reverend Said Dr. Strong.
« I know today’s announcement will be unexpected to our communities, staff, residents, students, and the community. Our priority has been and is their well-being. »
Michael Owen and Phil Carter of PwC Australia (PwC) were named beneficiaries of PCQ legal entity by the Queensland Supreme Court late on May 12, 2021.
« Our immediate priority is to work closely and constructively with PCQ and its stakeholders as we conduct a review of the company’s affairs in accordance with the court order, » said Owen.
« We plan to continue operating the services PCQ provides across the community on a ‘business as usual’ basis while we conduct this review and we will continue to update stakeholders after this initial assessment is complete. »
PCQ’s elderly care facilities, schools, communities, and other nonprofit services will continue to operate while recipients better understand the organization’s position.
PCQ’s ministries, along with the parishes, include PresCare, a provider of nursing homes and services from the Presbyterian Ministry, Queensland Theological College (QTC) and Fairholme College, a school in Toowoomba.
PresCare recently awarded the sale of its Maryborough and Rockhampton aged care facilities to the Apollo Care Alliance.
