The Tanzanian-born writer Abdulrazak Gurnah won the Nobel Prize for Literature on Thursday for his writings on post-colonialism and the trauma of the refugee experience.
Gurnah, grew up on the island of Zanzibar, but went to England as a refugee in the late 1960s is the fifth African to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature.
