Tensions between state prime ministers are sizzling now after the ABC announced that NSW may have received more Pfizer vaccines than the other states.

Yesterday, with a daily COVID case count of 246, Prime Minister Daniel Andrews got very moody (he went through 100 non-stop) at his daily press conference, implying, that NSW got more Pfizer than Victoria.

« I signed a national vaccination plan for our nation, not a national vaccination plan for Sydney, » said Andrews. “Some don’t like to see it as a race, but it certainly is a race. What I didn’t know was that Prime Minister Berejiklian was in a sprint while the rest of us had to do some kind of egg and spoon thing. ”

There was a good reason for the quirk: an analysis more publicly available Data conducted by ABC shows that in August NSW received 45 percent of Pfizers given to primary care workers (such as primary care physicians). Meanwhile, Victoria, Queensland, and Western Australia didn’t get their fair share when you calculate it by population size.

While Victoria has 26 percent of the population, it only has 21 percent of Pfizer’s. Similarly, Queensland has 20 percent of the population but is closer to 15 percent, and Western Australia, which is home to 10 percent of the population, has seven percent of the Pfizer.

The ABC claims that, based on the numbers,  » Victoria could have missed up to 343,000 Pfizer jabs, Queensland 100,000 jabs and Western Australia 114,000 jabs between June and September. «

And the Horizon allocation document appears to provide that Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia will continue to receive less than their fair shares .

According to ABC, part of this additional Pfizer came from the Poland shipment – do you remember that? When Scott Morrison happily announced on a Sunday morning that Australia would receive 1 million doses of « Hope ».

This is how @ScottMorrisonMP described the additional doses of Pfizer from Poland after the US refused to give Australia any of its surplus vaccines to send. # 9News pic.twitter.com/sanFajYVH9

All of this adds to the criticism of « PMofNSW » that Scott Morrison manages, with other states implying that NSW receives special treatment.

Disaster?
2 weeks #mockdown?
The Victorians had 111 days of actual LOCKDOWN. We sucked it up without your help.

Queensland Prime Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk said the federal government should step back from criticizing their state with lower vaccination rates. « Please don’t start a fight if another state gets more vaccines, » she said.

But you know what that adds to that? The vaccine hierarchy, as well as the tensions surrounding Pfizer, add something to the perception that it is a better vaccine. Yes, the time frame between doses is shorter (although this recommended time frame for AstraZeneca has been reduced from 12 weeks to between four and eight weeks).

But if people wait for the Pfizer doses, it only adds up to a longer one Waiting time than with the readily available AZ. The best vaccine is currently available.
