See how the star tenor Puccini’s spectacular aria « Nessun dorma » plays at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome to ring in the late European Championship.
So you can watch the popular Italian singer Andrea Bocelli live live The opening ceremony of the UEFA Euro 2020 with the aria at the end of all arias – Puccini’s great « Nessun dorma » – celebrates.
The star tenor, a lifelong football fan, will be the only musician at the event on Friday, June 11th Olympic Stadium of Rome.
« It will be a pleasure and an honor to be able to offer my vote at the UEFA Euro 2020 opening ceremony tomorrow, » said Bocelli in an Instagram post.
« It will also be a valuable opportunity to send a strong message of hope and positivity. That Vincerò (I will win), underlined by the high pitch and ideally sung by all 24 national teams involved, also serve as a wish for everyone in the world, overcome difficulties and master challenges in their own game: so always win. «
After a year-long delay due to the coronavirus, the UEFA Euro 2020 Football Championship kicks off this Friday at 8 p.m. with a game between Italy and Turkey.
Bocelli has previously played the Olympics, the World Cup and even the British Premier League final lent his vote.
« Nessun dorma » with its closing text « I will win » has become a popular choice at sporting events since Luciano Pavarotti made it the soundtrack of the 1990 World Cup.
Bocelli performed the aria Puccini’s opera Turandot in New York’s Central Park in 2011. He also performed it at the Global Awards 2018, a glamorous ceremony at the Globals Classic FM, LBC, Smooth and all of their sister stations came together. Andrea Bocelli’s Euro Opening Ceremony performance can be seen on the BBC in the UK on Friday 11 June at 7pm in the UK One or BBC iPlayer.
The opening ceremony of UEFA Euro 2020 will take place before the first match between Italy and Turkey, kicking off at 8 p.m. UK time.
In the USA, the ceremony will be broadcast on ESPN, TUDN Radio, TUDN.com, TUDN USA, TUDN App, Univision and Univision NOW broadcast.
