CM – Tiffany Foster’s patience pays off with 11-year-old Figor

When Tiffany Foster (CAN) and Figor won the CSI4 * -W Longines FEI Jumping World Cup ™ Washington (USA) on Saturday evening at the Tryon International Equestrian Center, it was the successful implementation of a long-term plan.

Foster wanted the competition to be her horse’s first major test after recovering from an injury at the end of the winter season. The 11-year-old gelding exceeded expectations and crowned a four-in-hand jump-off, which was not lacking in surprises. Foster’s winning time was 35.73 seconds. The youngest rider in the field, Alessandra Volpi (USA), came second with Berlinda (36.52 seconds), ahead of Alex Granato (USA) and Carlchen W (4 / 35.01) she came second.

I got mine This horse show was really done and next week [in Lexington] he will be back at 1.60m level for the first time. ”

We took our time and I have to visit his vet Eduardo Felix and his groom Caroline Holmberg say a big thank you. You did a great job getting it back. He’s in fantastic shape. ”

Bernardo Costa Cabral (POR) put the 33-man field with 14 numbered obstacles that wrapped around the Tryon Stadium, a tough first-round test that questions both Scope as well as perseverance. An adjusted time from 82 to 84 seconds enabled Granato and Carlchen W to hit the first ticket for the shortened route. In the jump-off, the veteran couple did a quick lap, but a rail on the final fence left them with four mistakes.

“The field [jump-off] was small, but tonight it was powerful. There were three riders on very, very fast horses. Alex’s horse is great, super fast and very competitive, so I was a bit relieved when the last jump went down! ”

Next in the ring, Cook and Caillou were out of sync on the way to the first fence, and some misunderstandings between horse and rider resulted in a refusal. Volpi then had the first double clear performance of the evening, but the young rider left the door open for her more experienced opponent. Foster and Figor jumped away on the way to the last fence.

It would probably be a risk for most horses to take nine steps to the last jump if they covered the distance between those two jumps, but I knew that my horse would just eat it up, and that would be really good for him. That was really my favorite part [of my group] tonight. ”

Foster’s result catapulted her into the NAL standings, and she is now in second place with 29 points, just behind Conor Swails (IRL) 37 points; Rowan Willis (AUS) is third with 20 points. Foster plans to move on to the next leg of the NAL in Lexington (USA) on November 6, 2021 with Figor.
