Bowlers from Bangladesh ran through the Australian attack line-up to score a dominant 60-run win against the tourists in the fifth and final Twenty20, with 4 winning the series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Monday: 1. Shakib Al Hasan played for Bangladesh with 4-9 from his four overs, while pacemaker Mohammad Saifuddin, who played his first match in the series, won his three overs with 3-12 and Australia for 62 in 13.4 overs, the lowest total ever in the format.

Shakib’s four-wicket haul brought his wicket count to 102 in international T20s, making him the first Bangladeshi to claim more than 100 wickets, and also made him the only cricketer to have over 1000 runs with more than 100 wickets in the shortest format of the game.

Matthew Wade scored the highest score for Australia with a 22 run ball and Ben McDermott made 17 out of 16 balls while the other batters failed to reach the double-digit marks.

For Bangladesh, Mohammad Naim scored the highest 23 balls out of 23, while Mahmudullah chip in 19 balls out of 14 to bring them down to a smaller total of 122-8.

The Australian bowlers, led by pacemakers Nathan Ellis and Daniel Christian, who each picked up two wickets, withdrew from Bangladesh after getting off to a good start, but in the end their efforts were in vain.

On the hunt for 123, Australia’s had Life was tough for the top order when opener Christian and Mitchell Marsh were sent back early by left arm spinner Nasum Ahmed.

Christian, who played a whirlwind inning of 39 out of 15 balls in the third T20, was vaulted for three, while Marsh, the most consistent batter for the touring team, was caught with four legs in front of the wicket and left Australia 17-2 in 3.5 overs.

For the third wicket booth, skipper added Wade and Mc Dermott added 21 runs, but the partnership ended when Shakib rattled the stump of the former.

Skipper Mahmudullah then sent McDermott back in the ninth round with a simple catch and bowling, which started a collapse.

Saifuddin landed a double strike by rattling Alex Carey’s (three) stumps and giving Moises Henriques an advantage for three, reducing the five-time world champion to 54-6 in 10.5 overs.

Australia’s innings lasted another 17 balls in which they scored eight runs, with Shakib taking three and Saifuddin taking another wicket to complete the innings and series.

Previously, Bangladesh had sent Mahedi Hasan in place of Soumya Sarkar to open the innings alongside Naim and the new opening pair got the team to their best start of the series.

The inaugural partnership scored 42 runs of 4.3 overs but couldn’t go on when Mahedi sketched an Ashton Turner ball, to give Ashton Agar an easy catch and drop 13 balls out of 12.

Scoring rate slowed after Mahedi’s dismissal when Bangladesh only managed 60-3 in the first half of their innings, with Naim and Shakib (11 balls out of 20 ) also lost their wickets.

Small contributions from skipper Mahmudullah (19) and Soumya (16) made Bangladesh hope to make a decent total on the slow Mirpur route as they hit 102-5 at the end of 15 overs .

But Afif Hossain and Nurul Hasan, who had some useful runs at the beginning of the series, only managed 10 and 20 runs of the last 30 balls, respectively, which turned out to be more than sufficient in the end.
