Bangladesh starts the Twenty20 series today with five games against New Zealand as favorites, not only to win their first series against the Kiwis in that format, but also to complete a hat-trick of series wins in T20s.

That Game starts at 4:00 p.m. and takes place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. T Sports, Gazi TV and BTV will broadcast the game live.

Bangladesh flies high in T20s after winning a series against Zimbabwe away from home in July and then triumphing over Australia at home in August.

The 4: 1 win against an inexperienced Australian team shot up expectations ahead of the New Zealand series, which arrived in Dhaka without all of their T20 players on the front lines.

Mahmudullah agreed that there were even more expectations ahead of this series standing, but the Tigers T20 skipper welcomed this and hoped his team would take advantage of this opportunity.

“There will always be expectations, especially in our domestic conditions. We are very competitive and confident at home. We make good use of our condition. Every opportunity for the team and the individual must be cherished. The rest will take care of themselves, ”said Mahmudullah on Tuesday in the virtual press conference before the game.

Mahmudullah is also very satisfied with the composition of his team, as he has options in all departments and a good mix of youth and has experience.

“There is good competition in every department. I think the field has improved a lot. These are good signs to become a better team. Leaderboards and the composition of a team do not necessarily show the true picture of a team. Continuing to play well usually brings the team forward. ”

Mahmudullah also assured that there were no injury concerns in the 19-man squad from Bangladesh. Afif Hossain, who was hit in the elbow in the nets against Taskin Ahmed on Monday, has already recovered and will be an option, Mahmudullah said.

The Tigers have the chance of a big jump if they manage that Black Caps to clean up, which puts them in fifth place.

Before that, however, Bangladesh has a chance to end its winless streak in T20s against the Kiwis as they lost all of their last 10 encounters in the shortest format of the game to them

None of the New Zealand squad players selected for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in October-November are here in Dhaka.

Tom Latham will lead the New Zealand team in place of Kane Williamson today, who is regularly with the test and one-day teams of Black Caps, but has not played a T20 international or T20 game at any level since November 2017.

« It is a really great honor that Crew to lead from a T20 point of view. Of course, I haven’t played in a long time. The way the world is right now, what NZC [New Zealand Cricket] is doing for the wellbeing of its players has presented an opportunity for many players including me, ”Latham said on Tuesday.

Most of the players of the touring squad have never played in Bangladesh and three of them have not represented New Zealand in any format.

“Most of the guys have experience at this level. A couple of guys have never been in the squad, it’s exciting for them to get into the group and try to keep things as relaxed as possible.

“There’s a good atmosphere in the group. The boys look forward to getting stuck in cricket. We had two camps so it was a long time from a prep standpoint. Everyone is pretty excited to get started tomorrow [today]. ’
