The first ever Triathlon Sprint and Relay World Championships were canceled less than a month before the event due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in the host country of Bermuda.
World Triathlon said that for the 15th to the Championships scheduled for October 17 would « not take place this year ».
The number of new COVID-19 infections in the UK overseas territory has increased in recent weeks, which has put pressure on hospitals.

The championships should include super sprint races for elite, junior and age group runners and relays.
