The Queensland rescue workers were called to a heartbreaking scene on the Capricornia Highway in Stanwell on Monday – after a truck hit a stationary ambulance.
Allegedly, the ambulance was stopped at a construction site when it was hit by a truck was hit in the back, pushed off the road and then rolled over.
Two passengers in the rear of the ambulance died at the scene of the accident, while the driver of the vehicle and two other passengers were hospitalized in a stable condition.
The highway was locked for several hours on Monday as police tried to find out how the tragedy unfolded.
