CM – UPDATE: Croc continues south to CQ’s main beach

2.10 p.m .: A representative from the Environment Department said the crocodile will likely reach the main Yeppoon beach this afternoon as it is still hanging on the beaches.

12.40 p.m .: A Livingstone Shire spokesman said Farnborough Beach stay open, although a crocodile was reported there around 11 a.m.

A spokesman for the Environment Ministry said the crocodile is about 3.5 meters long and is definitely a saltwater crocodile.

He said they would put warning signs around 12:30 p.m. set up to keep swimmers and dog owners away.

The crocodile showed no dangerous behavior, but it remained to be seen whether the department would catch it.
