LONDON: Former Pakistani bowler Rana Naved-ul-Hasan has confirmed hearing Michael Vaughan make racially insensitive comments to a group of Asian players in Yorkshire.

Rana was in 2009 at the side of Azeem Rafiq at Trent Bridge when Vaughan is reported to have said: « There are too many of you, we have to do something about it. » Rana and Azeem were among the four Asian players on the Yorkshire team at the time.

Notbaly « fully and categorically » denied former England captain Michael Vaughan in his Telegraph column on Thursday Azeem Rafiq’s claim that he was Racist towards him and other Yorkshire Asian teammates in 2009.

The alleged incident occurred when Yorkshire took the field during a game against Nottinghamshire in 2009, Rafiq’s first season as a professional.

Vaughan’s disclosure came hours after his former teammate Gary Ballance admitted via a Yorkshire statement that he was was the player who used the racist slur « P *** » in conversations with Rafiq.

Vaughan has worked as an analyst for the Test Match Special for the BBC 5 Live ‘The Tuffers and Vaughan Cricket Show’ for 12 years.

But he will not appear on the show on Monday after Azeem accused Rafiq of racism allegations Vaughan made racist comments on him and other players prior to a game in Yorkshire in 2009.

« I totally and categorically deny I ever said those words. I have nothing to hide. The ‘you guys’ comment never happened, « wrote the 2005 Ashes captain in the column.

» Anyone who tries to remember words said 10 years ago will be fallible , but I firmly believe that these words were not used.
