CM – Warne: It’s a make or break weekend in EPL – KSL Sports

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – As we get closer to lap 34, it is now or never time for the title race and the top four.

With Man City in pole position to take the title , they could make it this weekend if they beat Palace early Saturday morning and Man United lose to Liverpool on Sunday.

It was a strange season again and without fans it was a little flat. The hope that fans will return to a certain level before the end of the season cannot come soon enough.

Saturday’s matchup between these London neighbors has so much to offer. The MDT kick-off at 10:30 a.m. on KSL 5 is worth a watch. The Blues are currently in fourth and last place in the Champions League, West Ham is on the rise. On the flip side is Fulham, who is desperate for maximum points because they could almost be out of the game if they don’t.

The arrival of manager Thomas Tuchel again confirmed that his appointment was the right one. A good mid-week performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League makes them favorites for the final and the momentum they have had since Tuchel’s arrival is evident for all to see.

Chelsea fans must be excited to see what he can do with a full preseason because I think they will be EPL title challengers next season. Christian Pulisic seems to have found favor over the past few weeks and Chelsea have been rewarded.

N’Golo Kante is on a different level than anyone else on this Chelsea team. He’s a phenomenal talent who works so hard on both sides of the ball.

N’Golo helps Chelsea dominate midfield, which in turn enables attackers to perform and defenders to protect. He’s the first name on the team’s sheet and has played a pivotal role helping Chelsea.

They are a well-rounded unit that is organized defensively, is in comfortable possession of the ball and moves the ball quickly through midfield into attack. Imagine that Timo Werner and Kai Havertz reach the level with this team that they have reached in Germany. Right now, nothing but positivity (minus the Super League nonsense) is coming from Chelsea.

Fulham started slowly when they returned to the EPL and then got a bit of traction that made you believe they could do the impossible but in the past few weeks they have had problems again as Scott Parker apparently ran out of answers. The writing is on the wall seven dots from security.

I like Parker, he comes across as if he wants to study, and his team plays nice football, and they did for a while, but there were moments of extreme naivety . This team is better than their position and there will be no shortage of applicants for their talent if they decide to leave.

What Fulham has are parts that can move quickly and have lots of dribblers in a confined space that can hurt the back lines. They’ll turn to Ademola Lookman and Josh Maja one more time for speed and creativity when Bobby Decordova-Reid plays a little deeper.

They haven’t always received the reward for their efforts, and with only 25 goals scored you can tell what the problem was all season long. They are going to cause Chelsea problems, but is it a reliable threat?

At local derbies, the extraordinary can be said to happen, but not on Saturday as Chelsea get all three points more firmly in their grip on the top 4 gets and marginalizes Fulham. A professional performance of the blues is coming up.

One of the most watched games in the world of football. The matchup on Sunday has a massive impact. A 9:30 am MDT opener at NBCSN that saw Manchester United keep their slim title hopes alive and all but end Liverpool’s top four chances. or Liverpool, put pressure on the teams above them and try to close the gap between West Ham and Chelsea and possibly end the United title. Either way, both fans will be happy to see each other die.

United have been great over the past few months. The only slip came last week in a 0-0 draw against Leeds United. But the relentless strength they have shown this season will give them the basis to put together a title challenge next season.

The core of this roster is worth a title challenge. They are big and physically in the back and in the heart of the midfield and then they have really great attacking talent, a mix of speed, cunning, youth and experience.

It’s as good as anything in the EPL. For me, the decisive cogs in the attack for the rest of the season are Bruno Fernandes, who pretty much carried this team on his back and woke the Red Devils out of their slumber.

Goals or assists … it doesn’t matter, he has all the fingers and toes in everything good United has done and I expect that will continue to be the case in the future. The other is the cunning and deadly Edinson Cavani, who at 34 years of age Uruguayan is the point man in this attack, I believe, a position United could have been closer to if his club had set him up earlier and his manager might have trusted him earlier in Man City in the title race. With hindsight, of course. But their season depends on a knife edge. A miserable defense of the title, which was not only due to the injuries suffered. Certainly needs to be tackled in the off-season. Mo Salah will be Liverpool’s main threat. His EPL record is phenomenal and he was one of the few bright spots for the Reds this season.

He’s been consistent, something Liverpool have been known for over the past few seasons, largely taken over by others, but the Egyptian has moved on anyway. One thing Liverpool will need is the ability to bring Fabinho back to midfield. He had to fill out the back again and was sorely missed before the back four. If not, it might be a long afternoon for her. It allows Thiago to set the pace and Gini Wijnaldum to provide the engine for midfield, without him the dynamic changes completely.

For me there is only one winner, United. While the title will just be out of reach, with the foundations they keep building they can add another piece to what they are building. It will be a close affair and Liverpool will have their chances and likely more possession, but Salah cannot do it alone. The supporting cast have unfortunately lost their pace.

I can’t even think about next week’s games as this weekend could break or break teams at both ends of the table.
