The alleged owner of a large arsenal was charged after police raided his home in Innisfail on April 13.
The 72-year-old man was charged Saturday after police raided a property in Eubenangee around 8 a.m. and uncovered 24 unregistered firearms, including a working .55-caliber anti-tank gun.
Innisfail Criminal Investigation detectives also found large quantities of ammunition, fireworks, detonators, explosives and a silencer on the property.
Liquid mercury was also found on the bottom of a shipping container that needed the help of the Queensland Fire to clear the hazard.
Police will claim the man is the owner of the guns and charged him with four cases of illegal gun possession, one case of illegal possession of 10 or more guns, three cases of authority over possession of explosives, and two cases of prohibition of possession certain magazines and a count of the safe storage of weapons, do not care and do not store small ammunition and strength equipment.
