Davinson Sanchez’s header in the 96th minute sparked cheering scenes at Antonio Conte as Tottenham resumed their rise under the Italian with a dramatic 1-0 win over Watford on Vicarage Road.

In In a game that was delayed in the second half after a supporter in the Graham Taylor grandstand fell ill, both sides felt offended by the decisions made by referee Rob Jones, who refused penalty kicks with Harry Kane and Joshua King in both halves.

Watford had conceded 15 goals in a five-game losing streak, but Kane and his colleagues were frustrated by an inspired Daniel Bachmann before Sanchez intervened very late.

It looked like after the 1: 1 tie against 10-man Southampton lost another two-point case, but Sanchez rose to take Heung-Min Son’s free-kick home when Watford was again dejected He wondered if his first Premier League award of the season would ever arrive.

The result means Antonio Conte is expanding his unbeaten streak to eight games as coach. Spurs rises to fifth place with 33 points, two points behind Arsenal in their last remaining Champions League spot with two games in hand against their North London rivals, while Watford remains at position 17, two points above the relegation zone after he played two more games than Burnley in 18th place.

Man of the game: Davinson Sanchez.

« I think in the end it was good to find a way to get three points, » said Conte. « We couldn’t find a way in the game against Southampton, but we built our chances today.

» The opposition were well organized defensively with nine or ten players behind the ball so it wasn’t easy. We have found the space to attack and if we can find such a close team we have to improve. I know we have room for improvement. « And also to improve the quality in the last half. »

Watford coach Claudio Ranieri made three changes to the team, who scored 1 against West Ham on December 28th: 4 had lost. William Troost-Ekong returned to the team with Ken Sema and Imran Louza, while Tom Cleverley returned to the bench after a minor thigh problem.

Antonio Conte made two changes to Tottenham who were frustrated with Southampton. Lucas Moura and Oliver Skipp have been appointed to the team, including Harry Winks and Dele Alli.

Before the game, Conte announced that he was planning a meeting with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and football manager Fabio Paratici to discussing plans for January after making his initial assessments of his squad. The Italian has been vocal about the need for extra quality despite having promoted an underperforming team to the top 4 races.

Several key additions over the next few weeks could help Spurs qualify for the Champions League but Conte discovers that creating a more ruthless streak is a priceless commodity. They couldn’t have left it here later.

Watford received a boost the night before the encounter after Emmanuel Dennis was removed from Nigeria’s Africa Cup squad.

But the Hornets were toothless for the first 45 minutes as Dennis’ tame performance, given by Joshua King in the opening round, was one of two inconsequential efforts before the break.

The other fell on Ken Sema when switching, but it entailed a different routine except for the understaffed Hugo Lloris. It was Tottenham who dictated the procedure, smart in their eye-catching N17-inspired purple third stripe, they navigated Vicarage Road with ease.

What will have frustrated Conte for the first 15 minutes was that his team Had 75 percent possession and spent 40 percent of the game in Watford’s defensive third, but there wasn’t a single half to show their efforts.

That all changed when Lucas Moura’s cross from returning William Troost-Ekong only half was cleared and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg cleared the crossbar with a half volley.

Kane caught the eye when he expertly turned Craig Cathcart to test Daniel Bachmann before Hojbjerg invited Sergio Reguilon to shoot hard in the direction of the long one Take a corner and score a nice two-handed save from the Watford goalkeeper.

It preceded a focal point when Spurs felt moments later that s he should have a penalty when Troost-Ekong Kane pushed into the penalty area from behind, selected by Moura.

As so often in this term, Watford had ignored the warning anyway, as a weak pass-out by Bachmann from the excellent Oliver Skipp was devoured to set Kane up. Almost everyone in the stadium expected the net to bulge, but the English captain’s concentrated shot just missed the left post.

Tottenham was in full control and scratched their heads but still equalized at the break was. But after the restart, little changed, because after Reguilon’s deflected shot puckered the outside netting, Kane renewed his fight against Bachmann with his upset left ladle.

Dennis was withdrawn during the break and replaced by Joao Pedro, but Watford would be short was about to take the lead against the game when Sema expropriated Royal and King fielded when his precise shot from the edge of the box was brilliantly tipped around the post Lloris was in full swing.

It was Watford’s turn to be offended, when Pedro instinctively whistled instead of playing the advantage, found a way to the goal, despite the attention of Sanchez and Skipp, whose late pull on the shirt led to it. Skipp was cautioned and Pedro’s resulting free kick cleared the bar.

Son was calm, but the South Korean had his head in his hands when he didn’t get a better impression after an inviting low cross from Royal in the middle of the second period.

Five minutes later, Son was already rolling away, thinking he’d scored a goal as he ran onto Moura’s pass to aim a controlled volley, but the watchful Bachmann followed him all the way to keep him safe Then came the moment of concern, which resulted in an eight-minute hiatus as paramedics raced across the field to medicate a supporter at the Graham Taylor booth. It was the second time Watford had paused a game due to a medical emergency this season.

After a long delay, it felt like the fight was about to end as Sanchez made a last one in the sixth minute of stoppage time A turn in the story came when the Colombian got up to hurl Son’s free kick over Bachmann.

Conte led the celebrations on the sideline. It was a cruel blow in a season of fighting for Watford as it confirmed its sixth straight loss. At this pace, it certainly won’t be long before they are in the relegation zone.

Tottenham coach Antonio Conte: « We have young players with room for improvement. I saw my players hungry today and all two or three of them Playing days is not easy. I am pleased with the commitment of the players and it is another clean « In this regard we are showing solidity. »

Conte was asked about the future of Lloris, whose contract expires in the summer:  » Sure [Tottenham wants to extend]. We can see the level of the goalkeeper in these circumstances, when he doesn’t have to do much for the game as a whole. « But he kept his focus on the team and that’s very important to me because when I talk to him and the team, the connection between the goalkeeper and the team is very important.

« When you play very high with a defensive line, the keeper has to follow the game and not just stay on the line. Hugo showed today that he is a top goalkeeper. «

» He is very important to us and I am sure that the club will find a solution in a short time because they love Tottenham and Tottenham loves him . «

» If Tottenham had scored early, they would probably have gone ahead and won 3-0 or 4-0. But the halftime substitution Dennis brought on for Pedro made all the difference. Pedro was an absolute handful. He caused problems.

« Watford was better in the second half, but Tottenham tried and tried again. They thought it would fizzle out, he brought in a replacement, but then they scored at the last minute. »

« Although Tottenham dominated, the goalkeeper wasn’t making one world-class save after another.

» Dele Alli didn’t get along. I think he’ll probably go in the January window. It’s up to Dele Alli if he wants to go. You were looking for a goal and you want a midfielder who went into the box and you ended up being too predictable. «

Davinson Sánchez has scored two goals more than he did in his last five Premier League games for Tottenham scored his first 108 games in the competition (1).
