Reviews of the Premier League
We learned three things from Sheffield United – Burnley
We learned three things from Fulham – Newcastle
We learned three things from Arsenal – Brighton
1. The amazing season ends with a European adventure: get your passports out, West Ham fans. This has been a really great season as Moyes’ boys finished sixth and comfortably. With so many attacking players who stood tall at different times, this was a total team effort. The Hammers could go far in the Europa League next season.
2. Story of the Holy Age: They puffed and puffed, pushed high and had many chances but couldn’t stand them. Hasenhuttl looked annoyed on the sidelines, but it was a familiar sight in the second half of the season. The saints are spinning and will be one of the favorites to go down next season.
3. What’s next for Rice, Ings? Two England internationals may have played their last games for these clubs. Rice is sought after by many PL giants, as is Ings. Either would be a great addition, and while Reis would cost a lot, Ings would be a bargain for someone.
Man of the game: Pablo Fornals – Two nice goals in the first half and never stopped working.
Ings Minamino touched down in a quick counterattack by the Saints and the Japanese international threw the ball over Fabianski, but it only just twisted.
After Mohammed Salisu had cleared his own line during a goal maw fight, the Saints went to the other end and Minamino was denied again, while Kyle Walker-Peters saved a shot from Fabianski.
The Hammers took the lead when Bowen’s shot was parried by Alex McCarthy and Spanish playmaker Fornals was on hand to strike home .
It was 2-0 before halftime when Coufal crossed for Fornals and doubled the Hammers lead.
Minamino almost shot home with Saints in second Played well at half time.
Jan Bednarek had a header that was saved well by Fabianski, Ings shot one far and at the other end Soucek was somehow not finished.
Nathan Tella and Nathan Redmond both went in for Saints the proximity, as Tella had scored a goal for being offside.
But West Ham was three times late when Fornals set up Rice and he scored to end a good season.
