Jesy Nelson dropped her debut solo single after months of anticipation and ‘Boyz’ is not what we expected from the Little Mix alumni.
Jesy Nelson teamed up with Nicki Minaj to return to the music industry as a solo artist.
After being out of the spotlight for almost a year and hibernating in the studio working on her solo sound, Jesy dropped « Boyz » and it’s all she made of it.
After finding her own style in Little Mix after 10 years, Jesy’s R&B brings us old school nostalgia by trying P.Diddy’s Bad Boyz For Life.
Even the music video was inspired by the 2001 original, with Jesy sitting on the roof of a huge house and later in the garage with the rest of the band.
Days before dropping her single, Jesy gave a sneak peek into her new nickname « The Baddie » and told Glamor that she « can’t help but like bad guys ».
« But I’m going to go pretty deep. My father wasn’t the best role model. I never had a father around. He was always in jail, just like my brothers.
« I don’t know if it’s my upbringing or I don’t know what it is, but the way I’ve tried nice guys and it didn’t work out, I’m bored. »
However, she admitted that the last relationship she had with a certified bad boy led her to « hate » it and to « want someone to treat her like a princess ».
