The newly unveiled LEGO Marvel 76191 Infinity Gauntlet could set a new record for the LEGO Group.
A UK department store has finally opened the lid on this summer’s LEGO Marvel sets, featuring their « Infinity Saga » Logo return in key moments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While four of the five sets revealed so far focus on minifigure-scale scenes, the 76165 Iron Man Helmet comes closer as a pure exhibit.
76191 Infinity Gauntlet recreates Thanos’ tool for reconfiguring the mass universe on a scale that may be incredibly close life size or not (it’s quite difficult to tell from a single box picture). And while that sounds great on paper – just like the rumors about the March set – the on-screen glove is pure gold, and therefore each version of LEGO will live or die according to its color scheme.
For Fortunately, it looks like the LEGO Group didn’t skimp on simple warm gold bricks and instead packed enough drum-lacquered gold pieces to make King Midas blush. The only question now is: Will the 80012 Monkey King Warrior Mech crown be needed for the most drum-lacquered gold elements in a single set?
This 2020 Monkie Kid model made headlines across the LEGO community, because the super-glossy coating with a total of 119 drum-lacquered gold stones in the box was used in abundance. Given that the set only contains 1,692 pieces in total, that’s a sizeable percentage of the pieces that make up the Ape Mech.
Now it could be on the verge of losing its title to 76191 Infinity Gauntlet, which is an unbelievable one Number of drum-lacquered gold elements placed over a dark brown base. It is impossible to tell exactly how many pieces are in the coveted color from this single box photo. However, if they continue to the back of the glove – as the picture seems to be teasing – the number could go above 119.
We’ll have to wait for 76191 Infinity Gauntlet to hit shelves (at least beyond that one UK store) to find out for sure. We still expect this to happen on June 1st, but we will bring you a confirmation as soon as we hear this from the LEGO Group.
