In a breathtaking move, the company announced on Saturday that it had agreed to release Bray Wyatt and wished him all the best in his future endeavors.
Wyatt, 34, was most recently for WWE all in one Match as « The Fiend » in the ring when he lost to Randy Orton at WrestleMania 37 in April and has not appeared on the company’s program since a Firefly Fun House segment the following evening. According to PWInsider, his time outside of TV had nothing to do with creativity and there was no schedule for his return.
The former Wyatt family leader who planned to return in August was told that his release was due to budget cuts, according to the Wrestling Observer.
Wyatt’s release comes in a year of full WWE, many of which the company attributes to cost reductions related to the coronavirus pandemic. The third generation wrestler, who has been in the company’s system since 2009, has always been considered one of its most creative superstars and was one of its top merchandise movers.
If Wyatt wants to keep wrestling, he will likely have many admirers. Rival Promotion All Elite Wrestling has already signed a number of high-level talent from WWE, including Andrade El Idolo, Malakai Black and Miro, and Impact Wrestling has brought in a number of former WWE talent as well.
