Mel B said that having a video highlighting the horror of domestic abuse is important because it’s « not just their story, » it’s « the one. » Every woman’s story, it’s everyone’s voice « .

The singer and TV star appears in a video investigating domestic violence through dance, made in collaboration with Women’s Aid, of which she is a patron charity.

The video, entitled « Love Shouldn’t Do Harm » (A minor), is shot by composer Fabio D’Andrea and contains the music.

Speaking to ITV’s Good Morning Britain, she said: « You know that this video is so important because it’s not just my story, it’s part of every story, it’s every woman’s story, everyone’s voice, because we are dealing with an epidemic. “

The video shows the Spice Girls star mimicking a woman’s escape from an abusive relationship and was inspired by the stories she heard as the patron of Women’s Aid.

The dance was made by Ashley Wallen, who has worked with stars like Kylie Minogue and Mariah Carey, and The Greatest Showman with Hugh Jackman.

Mel B, 45, responded to host Susanna Reid, who commented that the video featured « two faces Domestic Violence « shows, » You put on your armor and go out into the world, but behind closed doors it’s very, very different, and it’s embarrassing and shameful, and you’re so guilty that you have to try this secret to preserve.

“That’s why it was so important for me to do this campaign, to work together with Fabio, Ashley Wallen, the choreographer, and to create something that people can not only see but also really understand of what’s happening.

« Because there are so many things in the whole video that he took her money, that he took her car keys and told her what to wear. So it’s not just physical abuse, it’s obsessional control, it’s emotional abuse, you know, it’s all different levels of abuse that we need to talk about. «

The singer who became known as Scary Spice said she was banned in Leeds with her family.

She said, » Since I’ve been away from my family for so long – a good 10 years and not much Communication – and during this time my father died – it was really important for me to get back to my roots, my north side. My mother, my sister, my children, we love it there. «

She claimed in her memoir from 2018 Brutally Honest, she suffered abuse – allegations that Belafonte has repeatedly denied.
