Frank Lampard Admits He Prefers Not to Play Sterling or Felix as Strikers

Frank Lampard, the interim manager of Chelsea, has admitted that he prefers not to play Raheem Sterling or Joao Felix in the striker position. Lampard has struggled with this issue during his first five games in charge, and the Blues are currently on a five-game losing streak. The team will travel to title contenders Arsenal tonight, and Lampard has been experimenting with different attackers in the centre-forward spot throughout the campaign.

Despite having Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz as options to play striker, Lampard believes that the club needs to find a top striker in the summer transfer window. He also mentioned youngster David Datro Fofana as a potential option. Lampard said, « I want a number nine that we can play off and rely on. It is not ideal for me to play Raheem Sterling or Joao Felix in the number nine position, but we had to against Real Madrid. »

Sterling and Felix Not Suited to Leading the Line

In our view, Sterling and Felix are not suited to leading the line by themselves. Felix, 23, operates best in pockets of space and is best suited to a creative number 10 position. The 28-year-old England star is so much more effective as a winger, which is where he’s been so dangerous throughout most of his career.

Chelsea fans will be hoping that Lampard can find a solution to the team’s striker problem soon. The club has been linked with several top strikers in recent months, including Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku. Whoever Lampard chooses to lead the line, it’s clear that Sterling and Felix are not the answer.
