When you make a comeback, make sure you do it like Nico Hulkenberg. Although he was out of action for some time, Racing Point called him up to replace Sergio Perez. Perez tested positive for COVID-19 and Hulkenberg stepped in for action. His astounding cameo in the two Grands Prix made sure his name remains afloat in the driver’s market.
Leading the race is US-based constructor Haas. After four years with Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen, the team is allegedly looking forward to a fresh lineup. Prioritizing experienced drivers, Hulkenberg is the best fit for the team.
“According to rumors that emerged in the paddock already two weeks ago in Barcelona, Nico is sure to be at the start of the next World Cup, and day after day what should be the most concrete chance for the German, namely the Haas team, has taken shape” reads a report from Motorsport Italy.
Hulkenberg could replace Romain Grosjean as the French driver is alleged to walk away from F1 after this season. Even though there hasn’t been any proper communication from any side, speculations are at an all-time high.
The market could have Sergio Perez too if Racing Point decides to let him go at the end of the season. It would be interesting to see who ropes in the two biggest fish of the racing world. Hulkenberg and Perez are experienced and their addition would be beneficial for anyone.
Niko Hulkenberg has been prolific on his return. He was listed for the British Grand Prix and the 70th Anniversary race at Silverstone. A bizarre incident with the combustion engine stopped him from entering the British Grand Prix. However, he came 7th in the 70th Anniversary race after qualifying in the 3rd position.
Sergio Perez’s return to the paddock meant Hulkenberg’s F1 return was shortlived. But his stellar display of performance at the Silverstone circuit meant he was going in to the 2021 driver’s market as one of the favorites.
Hulkenberg has been a prolific driver in the Formula 1 circuit. Though his cabinet lacks a race victory and podiums, he is capable of throwing challenges at his opponents. Moreover, Hulkenberg possesses experience in the racing circuit, which would come handy while he’s going in for the mid-field fights.
