Here’s What LeBron Said At The NBA Players Meeting Last Night

NBA insider Shams Charania has some insight on what LeBron James spoke about during the players' meeting on Wednesday.

NBA players held a meeting last night inside the bubble to figure out how they want to handle the rest of the season. It really shouldn’t shock anyone that LeBron James was very vocal during that meeting.

According to several reporters, the Clippers and Lakers both voted in favor of boycotting the rest of the 2020 postseason. That sent shockwaves through the rest of the sports world in large part because both Los Angeles teams are title contenders.

While there is still so much unknown involving yesterday’s meeting, NBA insider Shams Charania of The Athletic revealed some important details on Thursday, which includes LeBron’s overall message.

“I’m told LeBron’s message in the meeting was, ‘We need to hold the owners more accountable. They are the ones in the position of power, have the financial resources.’ His message was clear, but again how they hold the owners accountable is what’s in question,” Charania said on First Things First.

Charania mentioned that owners recently committed $300 million to a new foundation dedicated to economic empowerment in the Black community.

There isn’t an athlete with more influence in today’s world than James. If he decides he doesn’t want to play, it’s highly unlikely the rest of the league suits up for the playoffs.

James’ decision to put pressure on owners to be more accountable could result in real change – the type of change athletes have been asking for since June.

Another NBA meeting will occur later this morning, so it’ll be very interesting to see what comes out of that.
