Dustin Johnson tees off on the 13th hole during the final round of the Northern Trust golf tournament at TPC Boston, Sunday, Aug. 23, 2020, in Norton, Mass.Charles Krupa | The Associated Press
The top 70 golfers take the field at the 2020 BMW Championship at Olympia Fields North Course in Olympia Fields, Illinois on Thursday, August 27 (8/27/2020) in the penultimate FedEx Cup playoff.
TV coverage of the 2020 Northern Trust will take place on the Golf Channel on August 20-23, with featured coverage on NBC on August 22 and 23. Live streams are available on fuboTV, Sling, ESPN Plus and Hulu with Live TV. Full TV and Streaming schedule below.
The PGA Tour’s top 70 golfers take to the course at Olympia Fields, a trimmed down field from the 125 players who could compete last week at the 2020 Northern Trust. At the end of the weekend, just 30 players will be left to advance to The Tour Championship, where the FedEx Cup Champion will be determined.
There’s also no 36-hole cut to thin the herd in the BMW Championship, which means all 70 golfers will have four rounds to rise and fall this weekend.
Dustin Johnson is red hot heading into the 2020 BMW Championship, coming off his win at the Northern Trust and T2 finish at the PGA Championship. He’s No. 1 in the PGA Tour’s season standings and No. 1 in the world, but the FedEx Cup isn’t a one and done affair. He still has to contend with the likes of Justin Thomas, who was No. 1 for the season before Johnson bumped him to No. 2 last week, and Jon Rahm, who is currently No. 2 in the world.
One notable face missing from the BMW Championship lineup is Webb Simpson, who withdrew from the tournament after finishing T6 at the Northern Trust and sitting at No. 3 in the standings. Simpson’s agent cited a need for rest after his consecutive weeks of play, and since his points already qualify him for entry into the The Tour Championship, he’s taking a week off.
