After dropping a tough Game 1 in overtime, the sixth-seeded Jazz have taken firm control of their first-round series against the No. 3 Denver Nuggets. Donovan Mitchell has been lights out for Utah, averaging 39.5 points per game in the 2020 playoffs. He has also scored 50-plus points twice against Denver, becoming just the third player in NBA history to accomplish that feat in the same series.

As for Denver, history is not on its side as teams trailing 3-1 in a best-of-seven series end up losing a whopping 95.6 percent of the time. If the Nuggets have any chance to claw back, they will need to turn things around Tuesday night in a do-or-die Game 5. Follow below for all the real-time updates and analysis throughout the Jazz-Nuggets game..

Murray fouled on that last shot, so he’ll have a chance to cut the deficit to single digits at halftime.

One of these virtual fans is wearing the worst Chewbacca mask you will ever see. I feel this is something that you, the reader, deserve to know.

Rudy Gobert token post-up alert! The Jazz sacrifice a few possessions there per game to keep him engaged on defense. It’s a worthwhile trade.

« Maybe Jokic hitting 100% of his shots isn’t a sustainable form of offense, » said common sense.

Jordan Clarkson having 14 points is a good thing. Jordan Clarkson taking 10 shots in 14 minutes is a bad thing, at least outside of the context Utah currently finds itself in. When the Jazz lose in the second round, that is probably going to be why.

This game is basically going to come down to whether or not Utah makes the open shots their switch-hunting generates. Grant just did everything in his power to stay on Mitchell through several Gobert screens but eventually, Mitchell got away and missed a wide-open 3.

This trapping by Denver isn’t necessarily shutting Utah down, but it’s a nice change of pace. When you don’t have a workable solution, mixing things up a bit is a nice way to keep opponents off balance.

In football, teams try to have backup quarterbacks that are stylistically similar to starters in case the starter goes down and they don’t want to change the offense. The Nuggets have a somewhat similar situation at center. Plumlee isn’t remotely Jokic as a passer, but he’s a good enough one that a lot of the same motion concepts can exist with him on the floor.

7-of-7 for Jokic, but here’s the really impressive part: Jamal Murray falls down, and it doesn’t disturb Denver’s play-call at all. Jokic just calmly waits for him to get up so they can continue their DHO dance.

That’s what Torrey Craig needs to do. He isn’t a shooter but when you move off of Jokic you’re going to get easy buckets.
