Kevin Hart Didn’t Tell Anyone He Had Coronavirus Because of Tom Hanks

Kevin Hart revealed over the weekend that he was diagnosed with coronavirus around the same time as Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson, which is exactly why he didn’t tell anyone.

According to Page Six, during his set at Dave Chappelle’s An Intimate Socially Distanced Affair outdoor comedy show in Yellow Springs, Ohio, Hart spoke about being diagnosed with COVID-19 back in March. “The problem is that I had it around the same time as Tom Hanks and I couldn’t say anything because he’s more famous than I am,” he said in a joke.

Hanks announced his diagnosis in an Instagram post back in early March, writing, “Hello, folks. @ritawilson and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”

Chappelle has been hosting these socially-distanced comedy shows limited to 100 people in his hometown throughout the summer with all-star lineups, including performances by Chris Rock, David Letterman, Jon Stewart, Tiffany Haddish, Michael Che, Michelle Wolf, Sarah Silverman, John Mayer, Erykah Badu, Jon Hamm, and a controversial appearance by Louis C.K. 

To keep Hart or anyone else from coming down with the illness again, a source told the outlet the comedian has spent $100,000 on coronavirus rapid testing.
