AUG 29, 2020 - Livestock report from the Oklahoma City Stockyards: Oklahoma Weekly Cattle Auction Summary Livestock Weighted Average Report for the week of 08/24-28/2020 Current week: 28,873; Last week: 25,191; Last year: 24,844 Compared to last week: Feeder steers sold $3-$8 lower. Feeder heifers $2-$6 lower. Steer calves sold mostly steady to $9 lower and heifer calves sold steady to $8 lower on a light test. Demand moderate for all classes. Slaughter cows steady to $1 higher. Slaughter bulls sold steady to $4 higher. Chances of rain will be present across the trade region throughout the weekend and into next weekend along with cooler temperatures.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers sold $3-$8 lower. Feeder heifers $2-$6 lower. Steer calves sold mostly steady to $9 lower and heifer calves sold steady to $8 lower on a light test. Supply included: 92% Feeder Cattle (54% Steers, 0% Dairy Steers, 40% Heifers, 6% Bulls); 6% Slaughter Cattle (86% Cows, 14% Bulls); 2% Replacement Cattle (86% Bred Cows, 4% Bred Heifers, 10% Cow-Calf Pairs). Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs. was 63%.

Live trades in the southern plains $1-$2 lower. In Nebraska live trades sold $1 lower and dressed trades sold $2-$3 lower. Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday afternoon totaled 99,321 head. Last week’s total head count was 130,278 head.

Federally Inspected Cattle: 654,000 head up 0.2 percent from a year ago. Western Cornbelt Direct lean Hog Base Price: Weighted average price of packers bids on a carcass basis Friday was $42.31.

Estimated Composite Boxed Beef Cutout Values: Friday Box beef cut-out values: up $4.67 from last Friday. Choice 600-900 lbs. $229.40; Select 600-900 lbs. $214.86.
