Matthew Perry dit qu’il retirera l’insulte envers Keanu Reeves dans les futures éditions de son livre.

His potshot at Keanu Reeves was "a mean thing," the "Friends" star says at the Festival of Books, where he delves into his brutally revealing memoir.

Matthew Perry, the star of the hit TV show « Friends, » has announced that he will remove Keanu Reeves’ name from future editions of his memoir, « Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing. » Perry had insulted Reeves in the book, lamenting that former co-stars River Phoenix and Chris Farley had died while Reeves « walks among us. » Perry apologized publicly to Reeves and said that he would apologize in person if he ran into him. During a panel at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, Perry also spoke candidly about his struggles with substance abuse and addiction, and how writing the memoir helped him in his recovery. He also acknowledged criticism that « Friends » lacked diversity, saying that it was a different time and that « nobody talked about diversity. »

Perry’s memoir is an uncommonly unflinching account of his life, and he said that he did his best not to go after anybody in the book. He wanted to make sure that it wasn’t the kind of book where he blamed people for the things they did wrong, but rather gave them credit for the things they did right. Perry also spoke about his desire for fame and how it didn’t make him happy or fill the holes in his life. He said that getting sober involved a process of learning that « reality is an acquired taste, » and that it’s human to want to feel better all the time, but that desire can kill many.

Perry’s memoir is part of how he’s trying to answer the question of why he’s escaped death so many times. He hopes that sharing his story will speak to others in a similar place in their lives and help them. While he’s proud of the legacy of « Friends, » Perry said that he wants to be remembered as a guy who lived life, loved well, lived well, and helped people. He wants running into him to be a good thing, not something bad.
