Josh Hart’s Free Agency Value Increases
New York Knicks swingman Josh Hart has been steadily increasing his free agency value since being acquired by the team in February. According to four NBA executives, Hart is now projected to be worth $15-18 million annually in free agency this summer. Despite having a player option worth $12.96 million, it is believed that Hart will decline it and re-sign with the Knicks. Hart has become a favorite of Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau, who has praised his playmaking abilities and routinely inserted him into the closing lineups of games. During the playoffs, Hart has averaged 12.1 points on 48.7 percent shooting overall and 36 percent from downtown with 8.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and one steal per game.
Coaching Carousel Around the League
As the NBA Draft Combine approaches, talk around the league has shifted towards coaching movement and free agency. Quin Snyder, the head coach of the Atlanta Hawks, is reportedly replacing nearly his entire coaching staff. Several assistant coaching candidates have emerged to potentially fill Snyder’s staff next season, including Bryan Bailey, Alex Jensen, Igor Kokoskov, and Antonio Lang. Scott Morrison, who served as Utah’s G League head coach for the Salt Lake Stars, will be promoted to Will Hardy’s staff with the Jazz. Portland Trail Blazers director of player development David Adkins is not expected to return next season. Will Voigt is a candidate for two head coaching openings in the G League, the San Antonio and Portland affiliates.
