Ronaldo scores screamer to break record for most goals scored in a season for Juventus

The Portuguese has scored an incredible 132 goals in Europe’s elite competition for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.

It’s in the knockout stages where he really comes alive, notching more than 60 after the group stages.

And he needed to produce another miracle if he wanted his Juventus side to get past Lyon in the last-16.

Juve trailed Lyon 1-0 from their first leg and, when Memphis Depay put the French side ahead in Turin, Ronaldo’s side were staring defeat in the face.

He equalised with a penalty and then, in the second half, produced an incredible strike with his left foot to put the Old Lady within one goal of progressing to the quarter-finals.

That’s because it was his 37th goal of the season which broke an all-time Juventus record for most goals in a single season.

But it wasn’t to be a repeat of his heroics against Atletico Madrid last season as he failed to grab a third as Lyon set up a last-eight clash with Manchester City.

He’s produced a sensational season at the age of 35 but just didn’t get the help from his teammates that he needed.
