St. Luke’s files new lawsuit against Ammon Bundy, accusing him of hiding assets

St. Luke’s, a health care system, has filed a new lawsuit against Ammon Bundy, accusing him of hiding assets to avoid paying millions in damages. The lawsuit comes after Bundy and his former campaign adviser were ordered to pay a total of $52.5 million in damages to St. Luke’s and other plaintiffs in a defamation case. The plaintiffs are now asking the court to void any transfers of property or assets made by Bundy and his wife, including the sale of their 5-acre home. Bundy has previously stated that he has no plans to turn over any assets or property.

St. Luke’s seeks temporary restraining order to prevent Bundy from hindering collection efforts

In addition to the new lawsuit, St. Luke’s has also asked the court to issue a temporary restraining order to prevent Bundy from hindering the plaintiffs’ collection of court-ordered damages. The plaintiffs are seeking an order that would prevent Bundy and his wife from making any further transfers or sales of their property. St. Luke’s is also asking that Bundy be prevented from transferring ownership or assets of any of his entities. Bundy has previously stated that he sold his home to prevent St. Luke’s from taking everything from him.

Bundy accused of fraudulent transfer in sale of his home

The sale of Bundy’s home to White Barn Enterprises is being called a « sham transaction » by St. Luke’s. The health care system claims that Bundy made public statements after selling his home, admitting that he did so to hide his assets. The home’s title was transferred to Aaron Welling, a former campaign treasurer for Bundy, and Welling paid the Bundys $250,000, which was later reimbursed through a bank loan. St. Luke’s argues that this transaction is a fraudulent transfer and is seeking to void it.
