Serena Williams and Her Daughter Just Shared the Most Precious Moment at the U.S. Open

I will never get over this.

Serena Williams’ No. 1 fan—a.k.a. her daughter Olympia—was in the crowd to cheer on her mom at the 2020 U.S. Open this weekend.

The 38-year-old tennis pro’s husband Alexis Ohanian brought along their three-year-old daughter to support Williams during her match against Sloane Stephens on Saturday, September 5, at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City.

Though no outside fans are allowed to attend this year’s competition in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, little Olympia was front and center proudly clapping for her superstar mom from the stands. In a sweet video posted to Ohanian’s Instagram, Williams and Olympia shared a precious interaction midway through the match. At first, Williams didn’t realize her family was watching, but when she looked up, she saw Olympia excitedly waving at her.

The little one was even spotted proudly pointing and mouthing the words « mama » to Ohanian, who was wearing a covetable “girl dad” face mask. Check out the adorable family moment below:

Following her victory, Williams was asked what she hoped Olympia saw while watching her play. « Well, I forgot she was coming out, so I hope that she saw her mama fighting, » she said. « Hi, Baby. I don’t think she was paying attention, between you and me. She may have been playing with some princesses upstairs. »

In both 2018 and 2019, Williams made it all the way to the U.S. Women’s finals, but lost to Naomi Osaka and Bianca Andreescu, respectively.

Following her victory against Stephens, Williams will move on to compete against Greece’s Maria Sakkara on Monday at 10 a.m. ET. If she’s successful, she’ll win her 24th Grand Slam title and tie long-retired Australian tennis star Margaret Court for the all-time lead in Grand Slam titles, according to the New York Times.

Whether she wins or not, Serena Williams family there will likely be more precious moments like this one to come.
