BARCLAYS and Barclaycard mobile banking apps are down, with thousands of customers complaining they can’t access their money.

The bank confirmed it’s experiencing issues with both its Barclays and Barclaycard apps on its service update page.

Meanwhile, outage tracker Downdetector is reporting around 1,700 complaints from Barclays users, although less people are complaining about Barclaycard issues.

A message on Barclays website reads: « We’re sorry if you’re having trouble logging in to our app – we’re working to fix this. »

On its service update page, Barclays adds that customers should be able to access their accounts via its website, or through its telephone banking.

A note on its service update page reads: « We’re sorry, you might have to wait a while to speak to us – we have a lot of calls coming in right now. »

A map on the Down Detector website highlights London as an area that’s been particularly hit by the outage, although this is unconfirmed by Barclays.

A Barclays spokesperson said: “We’re currently experiencing some technical problems with our app. We’re on it, and as soon as it’s fixed we’ll let you know. »

The Sun has contacted Barclaycard for comment and we’ll update this article when we get a response.

One person said: « When you are on your break and need to transfer money over to get food but the Barclays app is down. »

A third said: « Can you tell me if the Barclays banking app is currently down? Both myself and another family member can not access our apps at the moment? »

A fourth tweeted: « Hi, I can’t seem to log into my Barclays app on the iPhone, and my partner is having the same issue on his iPad. Is the app down? »

IF you’ve been impacted by a bank outage, your right to some money back is usually based on how much the issue has affected you.

If you’re thinking about making a complaint, you’ll need to gather evidence about how you were disrupted.

Try to make a note of when you were unable to access the website or app, plus any costs you incurred as a result.

If your credit rating has been affected by a service outage, because you got a late payment fee after being unable to make a transaction, for example, you should also keep a record of this.

You’ll also want to make note of any bank member you spoke to when trying to resolve the issue.

If you’re unhappy with how the bank dealt with your problem, you can contact the free Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).

Barclays has a service checker page on its website so you can see if there is an issue.

This includes any problems with its app, website, or if any planned maintenance might be interfering with your service.

If you want to make a complaint then you an do so via online chat, phone, letter or email web form.

Vodafone went down on the same day, with mobile customers unable to use their 4G or other internet connection.
